Wetting and Contact Interaction of Nickel Alloy with ZrB2 and (Ti, Cr)B2 Ceramic Materials

The ZrB2–MoSi2–AlN, ZrB2–SiC–AlN, and (Ti, Cr)B2–AlN ceramic composites were wetted with a nickel-based alloy in the Ni–Cr–W–Mo system. was found to wet well form contact angles θ = 0–12° for 3–7 min on their surface. wetting process less influenced by composition of main phase (ZrB2 Cr)B2) greater content SiC AlN dielectric additions, impairing composites. interaction areas studied cross-sections samples. Three characteristic found: refractory substrate area, transition metal droplet area. microstructure starting material retained pores cracks filled molten area at depth up 150 μm. There no active chemical between composites, though there insignificant diffusion (up 3%) some elements thin limited solid solutions. This mostly observed materials containing MoSi2 manifested through silicon into alloy. In Cr)B2-based materials, 1–2% insignificantly depleted chromium narrow (3–7 μm) Despite this, close one. besides based NiCr solution, whose that material, single inclusions chromium-based high tungsten molybdenum contents found.
